Episode One: VMware Explore Las Vegas
Our first episode dives into VMware Explore 2025, staged at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. This was Broadcom’s most significant moment since completing its $61 billion acquisition of VMware. Expectations were high, and the reactions were mixed.

Hock Tan’s keynote: Did the Broadcom CEO reassure customers and partners, or did he sharpen the divide between large enterprise accounts and everyone else?
VMware Cloud Foundation 9: Positioned as the foundation for private cloud repatriation, AI workloads, and developer productivity. But is it enough to compete with AWS and Azure?
Customer signals: Walmart took the spotlight, but lawsuits involving Tesco and other long-standing customers tell a more complicated story.

What We Learned
The consensus from Vegas? Broadcom’s vision for private cloud is bold and timely. CIOs facing soaring cloud bills and compliance headaches are ready to listen. However, if Broadcom wants to carry the entire VMware community with it, the company must demonstrate that small and mid-sized customers are more than just passengers on the journey.
